5.2 The Difference

What’s so game-changing about the Hulk Systems offer?

You may have noticed that composite systems haven’t been mentioned much since module 2. The biggest deterrent to using these systems has been price point and accessibility. Since the 1970’s, composite wraps have been the solution for protecting pipeline and buried high value energy sector assets. Composites are also commonly known for greatly increasing the strength of assets in the aerospace, robotics, body armour, and light rail sectors. Composites can improve the durability of high performance machines operating at sonic speeds while still maintaining low material weights.

This is the premium, cutting edge technology, typically reserved for only the wealthiest sectors of the economy. But what are composites materials, and what is composite waterproofing?

Composite Materials

Composites are a combination of 2 separate materials that have different chemical and physical properties. The resulting combination is a new, enhanced material which is engineered to be superior at performing its desired functions than either of the standalone individual products ever were. These functions can include becoming stronger, lighter, more rigid, or resistant to stimuli like heat, impact, water and electrical current.

Common composite combinations include different weave pattern inlays of high-performance textiles like Kevlar, Carbon Fiber, Basalt, Aramid E-Glass, or S-Glass Fiberglass, combined with resins like acrylic polymers, epoxies, polyurethanes, polyurea, polyaspartics, enamels, plastic monomers and many more.

Composite Waterproofing System (HULK SYSTEMS)

In the case of waterproofing, an installer combines a high-performance textile fabric like the ones listed above, with a compatible liquid coating, to create an ultra durable, seamless sheathing, or wrap, that can withstand far more abusive conditions than any other material available on the market. Composite waterproofing has been relegated to protecting high value energy sector assets, where it remains the premiere solution for protection. Now however, Hulk Systems is introducing these evolved materials to general construction and foundation waterproofing.

The recent emergence of the Biden Infrastructure Act, as well as many developing green and sustainable building initiatives, has led to the specification and demand for more of these composite textiles, whether in a woven media, or a chopped fiber / matting for the concrete sector, including bridge, parking deck and roadway construction. With increased demand comes supply, and the team at Hulk Systems has been monitoring the pricing of these materials with a keen eye, as they have fallen from the top shelf to near-commodity price points. This is vital because it removes the only 2 negatives to the system: limited availability and high-cost point.

We planned that when we saw this disruption occur in the global markets, that we would launch our brand and be the first company to bring the world’s best waterproofing technology to residential and commercial foundation protection.

So, the technology isn’t unproven or new. It’s the exact opposite. It’s long been proven to be the top of the line waterproofing solution available by the industry sectors that can only afford to use the best of the best protection to keep their assets free of harm.
